QuickScan
A verifier is used where procedures demand measurement of
the printed bar code quality. This is effectively a bar code
scanner designed to analyse the structure of the bar code
symbol rather than the data content. The bar code is scanned
in the normal way and the verifier provides either a simple
pass fail response, or can offer a detailed report on the
contrast ratio, bar widths, and other parameters.
The most widely used verifiers are the
HHP Quick Scan devices. Originating from PSC Inc. these
units can provide immediate verification and audit of your
printed bar codes, to ensure compliance with customer requirements
and industry standard ISO.
Where product is destined for the major
retailers, there supply procedures often require regular
audited verification of the packaging or case bar codes,
to ensure reliable transfer through the supply chain and
to the consumer.
With the increasing use of automated supply
chain procedures and the use of bar coded cases, pallets
etc, bar code quality is more important than ever in ensuring
reliable shipments.
Verification can be carried out
via a portable device such as the QC610 or at a verification
workstation using PC610 PC based software.
